Our Fees
Our fees are based on the hourly rates of the fee earning staff working on your case and the time they spend on it. These rates are reviewed annually and depend on the seniority and experience of the fee earners.
Hourly Rates (excluding VAT at 20%):
- £300 per hour for solicitors with over 8 years of Post Qualification Experience (PQE)
- £250 per hour for solicitors with over 4 years of PQE
- £200 per hour for solicitors with less than 4 years of PQE
- £150 per hour for paralegals and trainee solicitors
Specialists may charge higher rates to reflect their expertise, and urgent work might incur an increased rate. We will provide an estimate of our charges and discuss any available options with you, typically confirmed in writing.
Payment and Billing: We require a payment on account, which is held in your client account until we issue a bill. For ongoing cases, clients are billed monthly, with a detailed account of the work done and the corresponding charges.
Fixed Fees: In some cases, we can offer a fixed fee, providing a clear estimate of the total cost based on the hourly rate and expected time to complete the case. Fixed fees are ideal for straightforward cases with predictable timelines, offering clarity on total costs from the outset.
For more complex or extended cases, it may not be possible to offer a fixed fee due to the unpredictable nature of the work involved. When we do offer a fixed fee, we will specify the work covered and excluded in our initial letter. If the circumstances of the case change significantly, we may need to charge additional fees, which will always be discussed and agreed upon with you before proceeding.
Disbursements: Disbursements are third-party costs related to your matter, such as HM Land Registry fees or court fees. We handle these payments on your behalf to ensure a smoother process, but these costs are beyond our control.
Transparency: We aim to provide the best possible information on our fees at the beginning of your case, regularly throughout, and at its conclusion. Each case is unique, so we encourage you to contact us to discuss your specific situation and provide detailed cost information.
For certain types of cases, the Solicitors Regulation Authority requires us to publish detailed pricing and service information. You can find more information about our prices and the key stages of these matters through the links on this page. For immediate questions, please email us at enquiries@alcottsolicitors.com.
